I am recovering from a stroke on the brain stem 3 yrs ago. I affected cranial nerves 3-10 on the left side. during the healing process my right side started to incur and continues with intense burning and pain. As a paramedic, I have seen many stroke patients and I self diagnosed mine to rapidly get to the hospital. Before my stroke I never associated a stroke with pain.

After 3 yrs of plavix, folic acid and aspirin, there are several sores on my arms and one on my lip that do not go away. I stopped taking Plavix and all started to heal. On informing my doctors (internist and neurologist), both became VERY concerned and asked me if I wanted to have another stroke or wanted to take Plavix.

I am in a dilema.

In late August 2006 I had a stroke, for which I am recovering. I am awaiting a determination on my long-term disability. Yesterday my employer for all intents and purposes terminated my employment citing a federal statute. Which means that I will be ineligible for medical coverage (COBRA and alternative plans are past my means). I have been searching the internet on how I may withdraw from my meds (I now take four, all of which include blood thinners, include blood thinners). Do you know of a source for withdrawal. I am particularly concerned about Plavix. If I would have known the side effecfs I would have said no to the drug. Thank you for your help.
