I had a car accident in 2001 which cause my L4 ,L5,&S1 discs to herniate and/or bulge ...and caused me horrific pain!!! I was only 21 at the time of the accident and a month later I was a new parent to twin boys and felt down and out that me as a father could not help as much as I wanted...I had a very hard time finding a medication that could allow me to fuction and play a part in my boys lives...Until My pain doctor tried me on oxycotin 20mg 2x a day...It is a miricle drug and still is today granted I now need to take 60mg 3x a day cause the medication does not last 12 hours usally about 6-8 hours before the pain will break through also I ended up having a spinal fusion which I say failed and now wish I would have just stuck with the oxycotin in the first place...I think its BS that Purdue Pharma is taking all this heat for making a medication that saves lives everyday...I know its not right for someone with acute pain that only will last a few weeks or months cause it can be addictive...But for someone like me who has severe chronic pain and will unless some new surgery comes out...I say thanks Purdue Pharma for helping me the last 7 years live as close of a normal life as possible and giving me the oppertunity to raise my boys Chris and Tony and giving me the life I thought was lost...!!! The doctors/ Pharmacy's that make it hard to get and/or dont stock the medication should be sued for pain and suffering for not giving it to the people that need it the most...And remember drugs dont abuse people...People abuse drugs...DONT TAKE IT IF IT ISN"T NEEDED!!! Thanks for listening....TIMOTHY J.D. Oak Creek, WI

yes i have also been on oxycontin for a few years now. i have tried to get off of this medication but i can not seem to kick the habit. this is one of the most addictive drugs that i have ever taken i have lost almost everything i own because of this drug. this med is good in some ways an others ways it is not. you will do just about anything to get it once you are on this drug it makes no difference how the doctor tells you to take it your body wants more than you are suppose to take. the number one problem is opium that is in this med plus also in lortab,an almost every other pain med that there is an it is a very addictive drug. but it is the only drug (oxy) that will help with my pain. i really hate being on any of them but with my health it helps. i just wish that i could get a little something back for what this drug has taken from my life. i could tell some really sad stories an i am sure that a lot of other people out there could also. but if some one can help me let me know. i will say a extra prayer for everyone that is in the same boat as me. which i feel like the captain being held hostage at sea with a ak-47 in my back except it is a little green pill 80 mg holding me hostage. thank you for listening an good luck to everyone that has this problem.

I am writing on my mothers behalf. She had been on oxycontin for years and had gotten addicted and started to abuse this drug by needle, she too was never told in the begining when this drug came out that the addiction rate would be so high. I am proud to say that she has gone through detox and has now been clean for several months. I have recently heard about the lawsuits that have taken place against the manufacture's. She and I would like more information on what could possibly be done. I know that several years of her life she wishes she could turn back time and never been administered this medication.
