This is my 2nd attempt to use Chantix in past year. Side effects too much for me so am stopping again. How long do I have to wait before I can start on the patch? This time I have only been on the Chantix for a week.

I took Chantix in 07 for 2 months. Although I did stop smoking after the first week, the side effects are horrible! Sleep deprivation, severe depression, nausea, thoughts to end it all - I'd rather smoke! It was horrible and would not recommend it to anyone! It was the worst $200 I have ever spent. I stopped taking them, I believe, just in time...before I did something really stupid. I am not an emotional person but this drug evokes very strange emotions and thoughts. BEWARE!!!

I have never thought about suicide in my life until I took this drug. I just quit taking chantix yesterday after only two days It may possibly have been the worst day of my life. The only reason I don't start smoking right now is I am afraid of the Psychological effect of feeling mores like a failure. I can quit without this. we all can! I know it is hard, but even if I don't I would rather possibly die someday from cancer than tomorrow from slitting my wrists.

I have many of the side effects that many of you have. Chantix and the will to stop will almost positively work. Unfortunately the effects can be really brutal on you and people who know you. I have been smoke free for 2 wks. This is my 3 time on chantix, so i know most of the bad effects. If there is any other way for you to Quit, i really think you should try it. Chantix should be a last resort.

I have been off an on Chantix three times. It did make quitting easier. Now however, I am suffering from severe burning pain in my knees and it seem to subside after I drop the usage of this drug. Depression, no, grouchy yes. Knee and joint pain worry me, because Chantix is the only common denominator, and after 4 xrays and an mri, there is no medical diagnosis made. I am an active aircraft mechanic, and need my legs to perform my job. How do I know the Chantix caused this?

I took Chantix 3 1/2 years ago and took it 3 months. I have been a smoker for over 55 years and Im still smoking. Although I did not smoke the three months that I was taking the Chantix, I immediately started smoking again after my perscriptions was done. I never had any side affects while I was taking the medication but I did start the side effects when I went off Chantix, I now am very clausterphobic and have terrible nightmares which consist of talking in my sleep, fighting, punching, hitting, and arm and leg jerking. Im not sure if this is due to taking the chantex but I never had any of this before taking it. I have to have PET scans done a few times a year which I have to be given medication to relax me before I have a PET scan due to the Clausterphobia. I cannot have my face covered, be in tight spaces or be confined. I am suppose to have a test done to see if I have sleep apnea or am having seizures in my sleep but I can not have it done because they have to put monitor belts around my chest, wires on my head, straps on my arms and legs. I have talked to my doctor about the Clausterphobia and the fighting in my sleep but he says he has never heard of anyone having this problem due to taking Chantix. Has anyone else had any of these problems????

I took chantix on two different occassions, 2008 and 2007. about 3-4 months each time. The side effects were just brought to my attention, to late I fear to save my marriage. I was put in jail for the first time in my life in May and my wife said she can no longer put up with my anger problems. I haven't been able to control my emotions and am hateful to the person I love most in the world(my wife). I am hoping that I can fix myself and my marraige. I would not recommend this drug to anyone!!!

Hey all,I've been taking the drug for now, starting tomorrow, three weeks. After cutting way down and only smoking outside for the 1st.week I have been smoke free for 6 days which is miraculous for me after 25 years of a pack a day. The cravings have been minimal, while I would love a cig.especially after eating,I feel Chantix has made the choice manageable.I have had some sporadic joint pain, but today it is pretty severe.Moderate eye discomfort and severe hand,finger,toe,etc.pain. I think,& this is a guess, that it might be a common preservative used in pharmacuticals as I had the excact same sensation on OTC.Centrum.I don't know if I have come far enough to stop taking it.I think some commenters might be conflating Nicotine withdrawel symptoms with a side effect.Anyway my fingers hurt like hell now.

I took Chantix for 2 months and quit smoking within a matter of a week. I was extremely excited. I had just started a new relationship and was in the best of mood. After about 2 weeks of taking Chantix I quit my job of 2 and a half years, the job I loved. Then I became super moody and depressed. I was never this way prior to taking the drug. I still am severely depressed. I have a short temper and I snap all the time.I havent had a job since and have no motivation to find a job. I feel terrible. I also started having awful stomach aches after taking this medicine. I just feel I will be the person I used to be. I lost alot of friends and loved ones because of this drug. I hope never ever takes this medicine again. It has extremely changed me and my life. If anyone knows anything that can help me let me know.

Thanks.

I started chantix when it was relativly new. I was having very vivid disturbing dreams at first. then friends and family said i was becoming unusually mean. It got so bad at one point that i started acting so bad and until this day have not spoken to my brother and a friend of 40 yars. no one knew why i was acting this way but now it all makes sense. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION. I still till this day have a diffrent attitude and a very short fuse .
