I took chantix for 12 weeks and its a wounder drug, i have been smoke free for a year now and no urge to smoke, I smoked for 15 years and never thought I would be able to quit, I feal every smoker should give this drug a chance, due to the fact that if it doesnt work for someone that doesnt mean it wont work for you. When I took this drug I did not have any side affects and now I am smoke free and loving it!!!!

I have been taking Chantix now for 4 weeks. I am supposed to start on the 5th week pack tomorrow and don’t know what to do. I have been successful so far. My doctor told me to smoke for the first two weeks then quit and I did just that and now have not smoked for 15 days. I am very happy and wish to stay smoke free. I believe I can do it. Chantix luckily has not caused any side effects like what some people write about. I have had no depression, no anxiety, no memory loss, no sleep deprivation, etc…. In other words definitely nothing serious. Unfortunately now I think it is causing me break outs. I have always had one pimple here and there but nothing like what is happening now. I guess I am pretty vein but I feel self concious about the acne it is causing me. I don’t know if I should start on the 5th week. Other than this new problem, Chantix has been great. I think if someone has suicidal thoughts or depression it is because there were problems underlying anyways. Please let me know if anyone has had break outs??

I have had no problems other than dreams and lack of sleep, Chantix is working and I have stopped smoking after 30 years

I would never take this drug again in my life, I agree with many of the folks that say dying of cancer is a better route than Chantix. I suffered short term memory loss (4 days worth), feelings of depression, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, skin rash, swollen lips, redness in the face, and bizarre irractic behavior. I have never felt so completely out of control-I felt mentally out of my mind and I am a very level headed individual. I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone. Luckily after antibiotics I am beginning to feel like myself again-worst month and a half of my life. I am blessed to have had the family and friends around me that supported me through this most difficult ordeal.

Well like a few others others out there i am still feeling the effects of this wonder drug. Yes i would rather smoke than think about suicide. I have not taken chantix in three years and have not been the same since!

I took Chantix in early (Jan) 2009 and quit in March. I’ve been smoke free for over a year and have had little desire to smoke since that time,other than a passing moment. Dreams were not weird or strange, just more surreal. Chantix worked well for me. Previous attempts with cessation, nicotine gum and patches were temporary band-aids. Would recommend this product to anyone who “wants” to quit.

my mom pu my brother on chantix 2 yrs ago…he became severely dpressed and made several attempts at suicide…this continued for two years until he did commit suicide…unfortunately for our family…these warnings about this medication came too late…he was only 21….

My physician recommended that I began Chantix in the late fall of 2007. Around Christmas season I had severe involuntary head shaking. This might have been about six weeks after taking this drug. The head shaking was witnessed by my co-workers, son and friends. I stopped Chantix and sought the advice of my physician who said that he had not received this complaint. My chriopractor did some testing and got me to see a neurologist the next day. The neurologist said to stay off the Chantix. I told my physician to send a report to the FDA and might have mentioned this to the other doctors as well. I also emailed the drug company telling them about my experience.Till this day I experience infrequent mild involuntary head shaking . When I hear about the side effects of this drug, I don’t hear anything about involuntary head shaking. It would appear that I had Parkinson’s disease.

This is my 2nd attempt to use Chantix in past year. Side effects too much for me so am stopping again. How long do I have to wait before I can start on the patch? This time I have only been on the Chantix for a week.

I took Chantix in 07 for 2 months. Although I did stop smoking after the first week, the side effects are horrible! Sleep deprivation, severe depression, nausea, thoughts to end it all – I’d rather smoke! It was horrible and would not recommend it to anyone! It was the worst $200 I have ever spent. I stopped taking them, I believe, just in time…before I did something really stupid. I am not an emotional person but this drug evokes very strange emotions and thoughts. BEWARE!!!
