Byetta Pancreatitis Lawsuit Evaluations

The product liability lawyers at Saiontz, Kirk & Miles, P.A. are now reviewing and evaluating potential Byetta lawsuits for individuals diagnosed with pancreatitis after receiving the type 2 diabetes injection to help lower their blood glucose levels. Byetta has been associated with a number of reports of acute pancreatitis, hemorrhagic pancreatitis and necrotizing pancreatitis.

Our Byetta lawyers began investing and reviewing the potential for lawsuits in October 2007, after the FDA issued an alert warning about a possible association between Byetta and pancreatitis. At that time, the agency indicated that they had received reports of at least 30 cases of acute pancreatitis associated with the injection, and plans were announced to update the warning label to provide additional information about this potential Byetta side effect.

Earlier this week the FDA issued a second alert to provide additional information about the Byetta pancreatitis risk. They notified doctors that at least six new cases involving hemorrhagic pancreatitis or necrotizing pancreatitis have been reported among users of Byette. Two of those six died from the pancreatitis, and the four others were continuing to recovery as of Monday.

The FDA indicates that they are working with the drug makers, Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Eli Lilly & Co. to make sure that stronger warnings about the pancreatitis side effects are placed more prominently on the label. For users who have developed pancreatitis, they may be entitled to compensation through a Byetta lawsuit as a result of the drug makers failure to adequately warn about this serious and potentially life threatening side effect.

Hello. My mother passed away last year, due to necrotizing pancreatitis while taking Byetta. I have not signed papers yet, but am considering hiring another lawfirm to represent me in this case. Please contact me and advise if you believe it would be better for me to have your firm represent my case.
    Thank you!
