I took yasmin for 5 months and ended up pregnant while taking the drug. I developed high blood pressue and was hospitalized many times throughout. After a premature delivery, I suffered a mini stroke and lost movement and feeling in my left arm and leg as well as the left side of my face. The migraines are relentless and lead to loss of vision on a daily basis. I have been diagnosed with chronic high blood pressure now and am taking the strongest dose of medication for this and it is still high.

After stopping yasmin the lower abdominal pains I'd been suffering from weekly stopped. Last night they started up again and I was advised by a coworker with a med degree to go to the ER. At the ER I was told by the Doctor that she's never heard of yasmin causing any problems (Which I know is a huge lie.) But that I should be referred to a gyno immediatley, even though she doesn't think there's anything wrong with me. I find is very interesting that I was told by the on call doctor that there's most likely nothing wrong with my reproductive system, because I'm only 18, but was booked for an ultrasound for later today, and am being reffered to a gyno for the next open appointment. Since I've stopped taking yasmin I've had terrible acid reflux, I've felt very nauseaus lately which I assumed was my body fighting a flu going around lately, I still have white patches of skin across my shoulders which I never had until I started on yasmin, I was constantly tired but a terrible insomniac while on yasmin, my mood changed considerably I was normally a happy person and never cried, maybe once every few months I'd cry, while on yasmin I'd start crying for no reason and I suffered from severe rage problems. Living in Canada I haven't been able to become part of a class lawsuit yet.

I was prescribed YAZ after suffering from a ruptured ovarian cyst. I experienced severe depression, significant weightloss ( 15 pounds), horrible headaches, and possibly got pregnant while on this pill for only a month. I was prescribed to be on this medication for about four months but I personally discontinued it because of the horrible side effects. When I saw a commericial about a Yaz/Yasmin lawsuit, my mom ( who has a law degree ) suggested that I talk to someone about my symptoms although they were not the ones listed in the advertisement. I would like to know more information if possible.

I started taking Yasmin when I was 15- about 6 1/2 years ago. I, for whatever reason, stopped taking the pill for a year or so until April 2008. I was having excruciating pain for about 12 hours, followed by pain that I can't describe- I couldn't move, breath, even speak. It literally felt like someone was stabbing me in the stomache with a knife for hours. I found out a few days later i had an ovarian cyst rupture. My Dr. decided that it was a mistake i made coming off the BC and put me back on Yasmin immediately. Since then, my life has been a living hell. As a matter of fact, my life hasn't been my life. It's been in the hands of many confused Dr's. Since I started taking Yasmin again in 2008, my symptoms have been as follows: Started with ovarian cysts, which led to surgery for removal of one about the size of a grapefruit less than 2 months after getting back on the pill. Within 1 month, I was having irregular heartbeats and severe chest pain when I was at high elevations (so I found out hiking in the smokey mountains.) After wearing a heart monitor for 30 days, a stress test and ultrasound, I was diagnosed with a Sinus Tachycardia. Since my surgery, everything has gone downhill. Suddenly, things weren't digesting correctly- and at the most random times. Sometimes I could eat whatever I wanted and be fine, other times I couldn't eat a plate of spaghetti without spending hours on the toilet. Since my surgery June 10th, 2008, I have lost almost 60 pounds. I'm sure from a combination of loss of appetite and simply not being able to keep food in my body long enough to digest it! Aside from that, after the surgery I had my first encounter with colon/bowel impaction. Since June 16th, 2008, I have been impacted 4 times- one time leading to surgical removal, which was on June 17th, 2008. It doesn't make much sense to me, because after that point it seemed like I'd have diarrhea for days on end, then get constipated or impacted, then start the cycle over. Migraines hit me like a ton of bricks, instantly, and last DAYS. I think my longest was almost 6 full days. Constant stomach and lower abdomen pain- had multiple ultrasounds done to check for more ovarian cysts just to find nothing half the time, cysts the other half...since then, I've had almost upwards of at least 15-20 cysts, 5 of which have ruptured or leaked out- causing me the worst pain I've ever had in my life. Since then, the abdominal pain won't stop...even when cysts aren't present. Frequent, URGENT (and for the first few months after surgery) very painful urination. I stopped taking Yasmin for a few months or so in spring 2009, because I was simply convinced that it was what was causing my cysts. When i went in for my yearly this past early July (2009) ,my OB discovered more cysts (one of which ruptured on the table DURING the exam!!!) , and my Dr. decided to switch me to Yaz. Since July 2009, my life has been even more of a Hell. For the first 2 or 3 months I PMSing constantly, was constantly bloated, both breasts were EXTREMELY tender, even throughout the month! I developed acne which I've never had problem with in my life, I was moody, anxious, depressed, and was constantly getting leg cramps, but always got the cramps while i was sleeping. I also noticed that on my thumb and index finger of both hands, it appeared that my nails almost had ripples in them. Another VERY interesting thing I noticed was I was loosing quite a bit of hair...so much my fiance and old roommate commented on it. I would also go through really weird "fits" is what I called them- I had trouble digesting food sometimes- for only a day or two at a time, but anything i ate would get me sick...on both ends. Needless to say, my cysts haven't gotten better either. Over the past few months though, a few other problems started to show up. Aside from all the previous side affects listed above, a few new ones showed up. Severe muscle pain was probably among the first. Also, my fiance noticed that every month, right around the time my period would start, my skin would get a yellow hue to it. And I noticed that when I'd pull my eyelid down, the white part of my eye covered my my eyelid was also yellow. About a month after this started, i noticed my nails started growing thin, and had gotten so bad on my right thumb that after 7 weeks, i have a spot on my thumb that is trying to grow out where it was so paper thin at one point it started to bleed, and hurt with the slightest bit of pressure. My hair loss has also gotten much worse, so bad to the point where maintenance had to "snake" my bathtub drain 2 times since August. I also began to feel very tired...all the time. No matter how much sleep I got, I was always tired- yet I had the HARDEST time falling asleep at night!!!! I couldn't tell you how many sunrises I've seen in the past 12 months! Probably more than most people have seen in a lifetime. Acid reflux is also somethin that started in the last couple months, which is something i've honestly NEVER had a problem with in my life. Not even foods that would typically bother someone without a problem would ever bother me before. Now, my digestion has gotten so bad that i honestly dont go a day without feeling like i'm going to puke, or puking. about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I went out to eat, had a couple drinks with dinner, and the next day I woke up with a fever, chills, and vomited for over 8 hours. The last 3 hours of vomiting, I couldn't stop burping and I literally had nothing in me but bile-but I had never seen anything like this in my life. My bile (which is normally THIN and YELLOW-sorry for all you with weak stomachs) was coming up GREEN and thick almost identical to the consistency of phlegm! I couldn't believe it! I kind of blew it off (i'm a horrible patient...I'm so sick of going to Dr's....)Well, this past week, wed, Thurs and Fri night I was celebrating birthdays in the family and went out to eat. All 3 nights, within 4 to 5 hours of finishing our meal, I was getting cold chills very badly, SEVERE cramping, nausea, bloating, and birping and a pain behind the ribs on my right side. Everytime, within an hour of the onset of chills and pain I was in the bathroom with the most atrocious diarrhea I'd ever had in my life. It was literally like a yellow liquid with small brown chunks in it. Needless to say, I have had a really rough time with my health the past 2 years, and I attribute most if not all of these issues to the fact that I've been taking Yasmin/Yaz for so long. This is serious. Lives have been lost, constant and permanent pain has been left on the shoulders of those who trust their medical professionals, and myself (among many others i'm sure) have been suffering and losing precious days of life that could be spent COMFORTABLE to say the least. Someone needs to do something about this. So many health problems really breaks down a persons will to live, and completely takes away from the persons quality of life. I hope that this gets settled- and soon. I know I can't foot these medical bills anymore, and sure can't take the pain, discomfort and weakness; and I know there are plenty of people in the same boat as me. Something needs to be done NOW.

Wendy, I live in Ontario and have been trying to find other Canadians that have had problems with Yasmin or Yaz. I've talked to a lawyer who is involved in a class lawsuit in the States who said that Canadian's would need to join a Canadian class lawsuit, none of which he was aware of. I've done quite a bit of research and it is the synthetic hormone in yasmin making side effects so severe. I recently went through the informaiton booklet which came with my birth control package and read the side effects, almost every single one is listed as serious, to stop taking and see your doctor. I stopped taking my yasmin prescription lastm onth and haven't been able to get in and see my doctor about a different birth control prescription or any the side effects I experienced. I still get severe cramping in my abdomin, which I'm sure is from the birth control still.. I also still have white spots across my back and shoulders which from what I've read could probably be caused by Yasmin, and if they are they're unfornatunatley permanent.

My daughter started yasmin just over a year ago (giveor take) to help regulate her periods. Since then her health has spiralled downward! She was a super healthy cross country runner who was suddenly affected by migraines, obscured and fragmented vision, heavy chest , problems breathing, sharp pains in the chest, cramps in her extremities, severe stomache aches, severe diahrea, hives, vitamin deficienct etc etc etc.......... the llist goes on. the doctors have looked at everything but the yasmin and until I started researching it last night ~ i had no idea of the side effects of this pill. The way I stumbled across it was that the doctor had put her on Synthroid because her blood tests indicated that she now also has hypothyroidism. Since she went on the Synthroid last week, she has been feeling very very ill. I looked up Synthroid and it's side effects and noticed that it warms you not to take it if you take Yasmin!!!!! So then I started looking into this Yasmin crap a little further and oh my god, it's just horrible. We live in Alberta and I need to know if there are any other Candians who have experienced similar problems with this drug. Why would a doctor put your child on this kind of crap vs a standard BCP? Apparantly only Yasmin has this synthetic hormone called DRSP or Drosperinone and that is what is causing all of the side effects. please let me know if you have had a similar experience -we need to get the word out there - now!

On day 10 of a migraine, non-stop pain. I'm off the Yasmin now, however, the headaches are just getting worse. My doctor has tried Darvacet, Fiorinal and Imitrex and I get no relief. All day and all night from mild to severe headaches from migraine to cluster to tension headaches.
Many headaches a week, nauseau, dizziness, vertigo, inability to eat carbohydrates without feeling ill, pain in my calves, feeling like I had morning sickness all day. All of this from the birth control pill.
I just want the headaches to stop now.

I started taking Yaz when it first came out. I was having 4 days worth of bleeding all in one day with horrific cramps. The Yaz stopped the cramping and allowed very little blood flow. After a few years, the blood stopped all together. In late 2008 I thought I was have ulcer or very sever indigestion. I was put on stomach medicine. This did not improve. My doctor had to prescribe hydrocodone so I could eat or I would be doubled up in pain after each meal. We ran many tests to eliminate any bacterial or parasitic indications; none were found. For some reason, my doctor wanted an MRI. The results showed I had some issues with my gallbladder (MRI's are never used to diagnose gallbladder problems). I then had an ultrasound. The diagnosis was severe gallbladder disease. Surgery was performed within a few days. The gallbladder was larger than normal and had 16 stones, 3 of which were the size of sugar cubes. Doctor said she's not easily impressed but my gallbladder impressed her.

I took Yasmin several years ago when my insurance provider dropped Estrostep without warning. I had taken Estrostep for over a year with no side effects. Within a month of using Yasmin, I had developed migraines and alopecia - neither of which I had ever experienced in my life. I developed a bald spot the size of a silver dollar on the right side of my scalp. I saw my OBGYN and told her I felt sure Yasmin had something to do with it due to the claims I'd seen online about the same thing. She simply gave me a new prescription. I dropped Yasmin and my hair grew back in.

I actually stopped taking yaz in this past year prior to that for about 2+ years of being on jaz I just wasn't feeling my self it helped with the acne and partial pain durring my cycle but while I was t in my cyce I would have crippling pain in my abdomen that would leave me inactive for days. In the beginning I was on Yasmine and afterthe first month or so it caused me to have my period every two weeks I was normally 3-7 day once a month girl so his wasn't normal I contacted mt doctor and he told me this happens some times after a few more months of this I asked to be switched he switched mt to yaz I had horrible head aches and cramps normally so he thought this would co tjnue to help but my cycle would return to normal it did about four
months later I began to bleed alot for one day contributing it to a reaction
f the antibiotic I was on I had gone to the doctor a week before with back pain and abdominal pain and migraine pain again not even thinking of anything after some testing he told me if I had waited any longer I would have needed surgery once all healed I resumed taking the bc while still o.
I started taking Yazmin this summer. Since then I've been suffering terrible mood swings, huge appetite loss, muscle pains, insomnia, abdominal pains and panic attacks.. none of which I suffered before starting this birth control. This is the fourth pill I've tried over the last few years. At first I was very pleased, it cleared up my mild acne and my first period while on this pill I suffered no cramps. The second month was completely different.. I've never had cramps this bad, I've began developing white spots across my back and arms. I used to be a very happy person, now I go from wanting to rip someones head off to crying with in seconds. I live in Canada and so far there's been no class lawsuits here. I'd be very interested in hearing other peoples stories. I'm mostly concerned about the white spots of skin on my back and shoulders.

I'm curious how long it took most people to have trouble. I took Yasmine back in 2002. i developed gallbladder trouble during pregnancy in 2005 and finally had it removed in Dec. 2008. I had no previous trouble. My mom recently told me about this, so I'm looking into it. Birth control is no longer an option with me, as all of it made me feel terrible....

I have taken Yaz for about 3 years. I recently had to stop because I got off insurance, and it is expensive. I haven't started my period in 4 months/ going on 5. Also when I was actually taking it, my face would go numb randomly for a couple of minutes.. then go back to normal. I always had very bad cramps, even on yaz. I haven't gone to the doctors considering the fact that I don't have insurance right now. I have taken every pregnancy test known to man, and all come out negitive. So I am wondering if me stop taking Yaz, made me stop my period. I am troubled by this, considering that's its almost been 5 months. Blood clots are probably building, and there's nothing I can do. So heads up Yaz Corp. I will be sueing you if it is because of this horrible product.
