After reading every post, I can’t believe this stuff is still on the market.I’ just turned 20 this past July. I went on Yaz approximately two years ago and used the trial. After the trial I stopped because I switch my gyno. I went back on it this past July because I didnt seem to have problems with it. I didn’t gain weight, it helped the cramps so it seemed to work for me. However, December hit and I was out of breath over simple tasks. I thought it was just my asthma kicking it but it became a lot worse and I began having chest pain. I went to the ER and they diagnosed it as costochondritis. I’ve had a doppler done on my legs to rule out a blood clot but just recently the chest pains have been extremely bad. Just yesterday, I was driving and felt..almost like popping or stretching in my chest and the pain has been unbareable. I went to a cardiologist and he strongly recommended I stop taking Yaz asap. I didn’t feel as well emotionally either but I thought I could handle it but the chest pains are so bad. I go for more testing next week and I’m praying it’s not at such a bad case yet. I stopped taking it the day I went to the cardiologist. When I look back though, after the trial pack I had dizzy spells and migraines, fatigue,loss of appetite. My doctor at the time diagnosed it as vertigo and soon figured it was mono. Maybe that’s never what it was and it’s been the Yaz ever since casuing all of these problems. I wish everyone the best, it’s so horrible to read this many women have these problems but it’s also scary to know so many other women are having the problems and not knowing it like I didn’t as well as more women going on it and not knowing any of these problems can occur.

I have been on Yaz and am currently on Ocella. I have had 8 week long periods, thrown horrendous clots during periods, have had increased migraines, shortness of breath, weekly heart palpitations, eye twitches, chest pains, have dizzy spells, and now just found out that I may possibly be developing kidney stones. I am a VERY physically fit women with a bmi of 19% ,workout regularly, and find it irratating that I get short on breath and winded so easily when I am in peak condition. Additionally, I eat will and rest accordingly and I am always fatigued. I am a little freaked out to read all of these posts and as I am currently still on Ocella, greatly concerned in Oklahoma!!!!

Daughter was on YAZ for a little over a year and she quit it a year ago. She has had fatique, dizziness, reoccuring headaches/migrain, numbness in arms/hands/legs at times, trouble sleeping and almost fainting. Has any one else quit YAZ and had constant dizziness and other problems?

I am sitting in a hospital room as I type this.
I am a registered nurse. I have endometriosis for which I have been on various birth control pills and/or shots over the years. Last year I tried Depo-Provera for 6 months, which gave me incontrollable mood swings. After 6 more months of no period after stopping the depo, I started having pain again. The doctor gave me 3 months sample of Yaz, because it had “a lower side effect profile” than the other ones I have tried (usually nausea with oral bcp). I started Yaz 2 months ago. About 1 month ago, I had right jaw spasms and tingling. I thought at first it was a tia, (mini stroke) but I thought , that couldn’t be, I am too young. I went to the doctor who thought it was shingles in my trigeminal nerve that was caught so early the rash didn’t form. I was put on valtrex for a week, and the rash never came, but I had a horrible cough and bronchitis… now I think it was the beginning of the PE’s. Since then, 3 weeks ago, my cough has resoved but I had been short of breath with minor activities. I thought this was from the bronchitis or being out of shape. It continued though, and I was going to see my doctor on Wed. On tuesday night I was at church and was short of breath, then nauseated, then dizzy. I passed out. the EMTs were called, came and I was better. My vital signs were normal, so they left. I rested for a while, and then tried to get up again and became weak. I went to the ER with friends, where I was diagnosed with multiple massive bilateral pulmonary embolisms. I was admitted to a non-telemetry bed. I didn’t sleep due to worry and chest pain. The next day my regular doctor came in and said to not even flex my toes as I likely had more clots. Yet the nurse wanted me too keep getting on the bedpan instead of letting me have a foley. I called the doctor, got the foley and transferred to a monitored cardiac unit. THe echocardiogram showed cor pulmonale and mostly obstructed bilat pulmonary arteries. The leg dupplex showed no lower extremity clots, so I was allowed off bedrest and can be up with help. the foley is out now too. I am on oxygen. My doctor sent labs to Mayo to see if I have an underlying hereditary condition that would predispose me to clots, but it is unlikely. My pulmonologist said he is 100% sure it is caused by YAZ. i am 30 years old, a single mom with 2 jobs in nursing, but I don’t have any sick time or disability benefits. I will be here at least until Sunday. I may have to go to a short term rehab due to my weakness. It will take a year in the best case scenario for me to feel back to normal. I have no idea when I will be able to work again. I am still unsure where the rest of the clots are and am concerned if any more break loose. My doctor discouraged the use of clot busters, ie TPA. I have decreased appetite and get winded in conversations. I get clammy if I sit up too long. My daughter is distraught and missing school. My family and friends are having to rearrange their lives to help me.

Hi.
I want to first off say how horrible all this is that we are all having to go through. I’ll be praying for each and everyone of you. I took YAZ from Feb. 2007 till April of 2009. In March of 2009 I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery and had to have it removed. They said it was a hot mess gallstones size of golf balls. Then this past September I developed a horrible cough one I still have today. I’ve recently been diagnosed with pneumonia and now the flu. After reading about blood clots and reoccurring coughing, I’m terrified. I have 3 year twin boys to grow old with! Someone please give me any advice on how I can help other women get better! I used to take yasmin from age 16-20…..and at age 21 I got pregnant and during that time I got DVT………do you think that yasmin would have helped cause this??

I have been taking Yasmin for almost a year now so fare im a little concerned with all the information I’m hearing about, 2 month’s ago I had made an appt to see my doctor becuse I have been experiencing cramps and swelling in my legs and arms, also pain in brest area my doctor said it might be just me. but know i dont know who to belive and weather or not to stopp taking the pills

Ive been on yaz for alittle over a year. And for the first time my period will not go away! Ive had it know for 14 days..and my tail bone is killing me could this be becaus of yaz?

I too was precibed yaz, and started having alot of problems. I had trouble breathing, irregular heartbeats, and pain in my left armpit. I have since stopped taking it, and have been trying to get pregnant…with no success…I’m scared too…

I started taking yasmine in 2005, it seem to be the only thing to regulate my period. Out of the blue two years later my Dr put me on yaz told me they took yasmine off the market. I had break through bleeding while taking yaz along with bad periods more than once a month. I expierenced bad headachces and stomach pains. I was on this pill for around two years. I then got pregnant while on yaz last year. I gave birth to my child in April of this year and have been on yasmine since June 2009. I get bad headaches more than usual. I find I get kight headed a lot and have dizzy spells. I never thought it could be my birth control. I just heard about this today and had already took a pill this morning. I don’t watch a lot of television so I had no idea. I over heard my co workers talking about at work. Now I am worried and scared. Should I get a check up?

I’ve been on Yaz for two years due to my terrible cramps. I haven’t been feeling any problems, really. I sometimes have a shortness of breath. Should I get off of this immediately? Reading all of the stories, I am very concerned. Though I haven’t had any issues, I’m just afraid of what could happen later on. What other birth controls are there that don’t cause such distress?

My heart goes out to all of you who have suffered. I am so sorry.

I am just finding out about these problems as well and it is really scaring me. I’m having a lot of the same issues as others. I’ve been on Yasmin for a little over a year and have had a lot of hair loss, unexplained bruising, increase in migranes, fatigue, coughing spells, nausea on a constant basis. Just last month I could swear I had a mild heart attack with pain from the left side of my neck all the way down my arm. I’ve had problems with dizziness and at one point I thought I was going to pass out (drunk symptoms) in the middle of a store. I’m not sure how I made it home, originally I thought it was just low blood sugar, but after reading these posts, I think it was related to the yasmin. I am not going to continue taking this pill but am worried of what damage has already been done to my body.

My daughter has been having alot of troubling symtoms over the last year including migranes, passing out, unexplained brusing, sun sensitivity, fatigue, and nausea. She has also been taking Yaz for over a year. She has stopped taking Yaz and has experienced a reduction in the problems she was having. I am concerned that it was the cause of these problems and that she has yet to see the end results and complications.

I was on yaz at the age of 16 for acne, birthcontrol and pms. This birthcontrol made me experiance intense migraines, and have siezures. my neurologist insisted i stop taking it so i did. now 2 years later, i stopped having siezures, but still have migraines. I’m on topamax a seizure and migraine blocker. also, i got into an accident, and now have a blood clot in my leg, maybe if i never took yaz, i wouldnt have this blood clot now. iv been trying to get ahold of a representative but still cant.
