I've been on the pill for almost 8yrs. I'm now 31. I've been reading about all the side effects and it has really opened my eyes. I do get a tight heavy feeling in my chest. I've put on about 25lbs since being on the pill. My sex drive is low...I've been getting pain in the left side jaw, not often. The other night I woke up with my right arm completely numb. I get short breath when I eat...I think maybe it's because of the weight gain... I stopped the pill for a month almost two years ago and I felt and looked like crap...my face was awful...I've recently started breaking out and I'm still on the pill. I'm getting married in January...that gives me 7months to get off and hopefully get my body healthy...and get rid of the expected acne. Now the real headache is finding alternative birth control that's convenient...

Ive been on Yaz for about 2 and a half years now and i love it. i actually went to a different medication for a few months because of costs and it was terrible. my acne was terrible and my emotions were everywhere. Since Ive been back on the pill for the last two months everything is back to normal. i have slight PMS but nothing major and slight cramping, but so much better than other medication. I used to have the heaviest periods, now they are much lighter but still last for about 7 days, which my doctor said was just how my body works.

I've been taking Yaz for four months now and I love it. I started it to regulate my period while travelling, so for the first 3 months took it without a break for the four sugar pill days. The third month I had almost constant spotting. But then I had a period (due to taking a break with the sugar pills) and since then, it's been fantastic. For the whole time, my moods have been much more level, I've not experienced hormonal headaches and other bad PMT symptoms, and this period now, at the end of the fourth month, is so light I've needed just one tampon and a couple of panty liners. I did have some mood issues on the second day of sugar pills til the bleeding started yesterday, but it's all great now. My skin is great too. I love this pill. I should add I'm 42, and had just started to have very heavy periods with very bad PMT in the last year or so. I admit to concern about the possible side effects but I've experienced none to date, and I'm reluctant to stop taking something that helps my shocking PMT and other cyclic mood swings.

Has anyone hear of Ocella (generic brand of Yasmin) causing a condition called Lichen Planus?
I believe I developed this condition after my insurance would not cover Yasmin. They switched me to Ocella and started having painful intercouse. My vulva is red and tear, my gums are very red and bleed when I brush and my scalp now has pinkish marks on it and it sore to the touch.. I am looking for answers b/c I am suffering.

I took Yaz for 3 years. I thought it was fantastic! My periods were very light (panty liner use for a day or two). I had no cramping or huge mood swings. I would get the occassional spotting here and there, but never anything that lasted more than a few hours. My doctor was concerned with all the recall news and switch me back to the traditional BCP. I HATE IT! I wish someone had something conclusive. I am 38 years old. My baby making days are over. I just want something to control my heavy periods, without all the mood swings and major cramping. YAZ removed all the yuk stuff that happened to me monthly. I've never been at odds with myself quite so much. I want to go back to YAZ, but am so afraid because of all the bad press. What to do!?!?!??!

Oh I meant to mention as well that my sex drive is ZERO now as well. I'm only 25 and if that doesn't come back I don't know what I'll do. My boyfriend constantly thinks its him, but I keep having to reassure him that it's my the Yaz that screwed me up.

I started Yaz in January 2009. It was given to me to help treat my cystic acne and PCOS. At first, I felt absolutely wonderful. My acne eventually cleared up. I lost weight. And for once in years I felt normal. But starting back in late December 2009 I started getting moodier and just off balance or something. My blood test in January 2010 came back better than ever, but I just kept spiraling downward. Finally at the begining of March 2010 I called my doctor and asked why I needed the Yaz. In the middle of her explaining the benefits of the synthetic hormones I just started bursting out crying. I was barely understandable on the phone, and it was all for no reason. This had been happening for several weeks, just crying for no reason at all. And the doctor actually kind of freaked out. She told me that she didn't want me to take even one more pill and that I needed to schedule an appointment with her for 6 weeks for more blood tests, giving me time to get Yaz out of my system. Since getting of Yaz I have felt like I've gone completely bonkers. I still cry over everything... or I just scream about everything. I'd lost 50 pounds last year, and have gained 20 back IN JUST 6 WEEKS. I'm exhausted all the time. I forget everything. I don't think before I speak and say some of the most outragously stupid things. I'm a total wreck. My appointment for new blood tests is in 5 days. Hopefully they can get me fixed. But I'm real scared now that some of these "side effects" are permanent. I wish I'd never taken Yaz in the first place and looked for a more natural approach rather than opting for synthetic hormones. I wish more information was freely given to me on those synthetic hormones rather than me having to research their horrible effects myself.

I took yaz for a year and it affected my mood badly. I also would never start my period on time with the pills but I would always have one. Now I have been off yaz for 7 months and have not had a period since and my husband and I got pregnant and we lost our baby. I had to have a DNC and now two months after that I still do not have a period. PLEASE has any one had these same things happen???????????

I am 21 and have been on Yaz for almost a year now. Same amount of time I've been with my significant other. I've been so moody and mean to him since the beginning, I have little patience with him, and have gotten mad over such little things. This whole time I thought it might have just been how I am with him (I had been in two relationships before him, each lasting almost 3 years, and was never such a psychotic grouch to either of them, and my current bf is way sweeter than they were). Now, after reading all these comments, I realize that it must have been because of Yaz. Also since I've been on Yaz, I have had periods that were light some months, I've completely missed one or two periods, and then another of them lasted an entire month. (All that has happened to me with other BC's as well though, and I have never been regular, so it is hard to say if Yaz is the cause these times.) Also, I have had nausea and dizziness since I first started taking Yaz, and I've always kind of figured it was because of taking it. Reading these comments has made me very nervous about some things, like it ruining chances of ever having kids and also losing my sex drive and all that. I think I will make an appointment tomorrow with my GYN, because of my worries. Not sure what BC to try though, bc I hated Depo (gained weight and had other issues with it), and the patch (fell off and also caused problems), and no others sound all that great to me. =(
