I’ve lost about 50 lbs. in the last year. It isn’t just that I’ve lost my taste, it’s that almost everything tastes terrible. I have to force myself to eat meals. I don’t even enjoy preparing meals any more, much less eating them.

I bought Super Poligrip approximately 5-6 days ago for the first time and within that timeframe I had lost my sense of taste completely. I already had diminished taste buds, but now I could not taste ANYTHING. What could have caused my loss of taste so immediately? On the off chance that it might be the new denture creme I had just purchased and used for the first time, and not knowing about zinc in their product, I called the 800 number to ask if their product could be the reason for my loss of taste. I was never informed that their product contained zinc and understandably so (because of the legal problems they already had), so I began to look for answers elsewhere when I came upon this site. Now I read that Super Poligrip denture creme contains zinc and maybe, just maybe, this could be the cause. I believe I should have been told about this and at least advised to switch to non-zinc creme. I did not realize that zinc could be the cause of my problem. Hopefully, I will get my taste back within the next week.

I am wondering what we consumers should use instead of Fexident Or Super poligrip? I am a new denture wearer as of 3 weeks ago and this is what my dentist offered me in a new denture care package.
