Over the weekend, the FDA warned that a recent salmonella food poisoning outbreak could be linked to cantaloupe from Agropecuaria Montelibano, a Honduran grower and packer. The cantaloupe recall applies to whole canteloupes sold at stores as well as to some fresh cut fruit packages. At least one fruit recall was issued by Charlie’s Produce of Spokane, Washington as a result of the cantaloupe food poisoning problems.

Following an initial hamburger recall announced last Tuesday for 332,000 pounds of frozen patties, Topps Meat Co. has announced that they are expanding their recall to include 21.7 million pounds of the ground beef burgers. The frozen patties may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria, which could lead to severe food poisoning.
