Botulism risk leads to expanded canned food recall
The canned food recall issued last week for products containing hot dog chili sauce has been expanded to include more than 80 different types of canned chili, beef stew, corned beef hash and other meat products. The cans may be contaminated with the botulinum toxin, a bacteria which causes botulism.

Hot dog chili sauce recall due to botulism outbreak
Canned food products containing hot dog chili sauce have been linked to the development of botulism, a rare but serious disease caused by contamination with Clostridium botulinum bacterium. Following an initial announcement on July 18, a nationwide hot dog chili sauce recall was expanded on July 21 to include all products manufactured by Castleberry Food Company at their Augusta, Georgia plant, including some dog foods.

Veggie Booty lawsuit filed as source of salmonella found
The recent recalls of Veggie Booty and Super Veggie Tings have been linked to the seasoning used on both snack foods. The manufacturer, Roberts American Gourmet, Inc., confirmed this week that the spray-on seasoning, which is made with imported Chinese ingredients, was contaminated with the salmonella bacteria which has sickened children and adults in at least 17 states. Veggie Booty lawsuits are being pursued by consumers of the snack foods who suffered serious food poisoning injury and feel that they were let down by the company.

Snack food recall expanded to Super Veggie Tings
Following the Veggie Booty snack recall on June 28, 2007, the manufacturer announced yesterday that they are also recalling Super Veggie Tings Crunchy Corn Sticks Snack Food. The crunchy corn sticks use the same seasoning as Veggie Bootie, leading to fears that the snack food may also be contaminated with salmonella, which has sickened people throughout the United States.

Veggie Booty recall due to salmonella food poisoning
The FDA announced a nationwide Veggie Booty recall as a result of salmonella food poisoning reported in at least 17 states. The green-colored snack food marketed by Robert’s American Gourmet has been associated with at least 52 cases of illness, most of them occurring in young children.

Peanut butter salmonella continues to sicken Americans
UPDATE 1/12/2009: Another peanut butter recall has been issued by King Nut Companies for large tubs of peanut butter distributed to hospitals, schools, nursing homes and other food service institutions, which may be contaminated with salmonella.
Since the recall of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter in February 2007, the CDC has continued to receive reports of new infections. While Federal health officials indicate that the rate of new infections has tapered off as people discard the jars, many Americans remain unaware that all jars with a product code starting with 2111 should be tossed. Additional cases continue to surface as old jars are pulled from the back of the pantry to make a peanut butter sandwich by uninformed consumers.

Beef patty recall because of E. coli
Around one hundred thousand pounds of frozen beef patties and ground beef have been recalled after at least three children suffered food poisoning as a result of E. Coli infection. At this time, health officials are still investigating other potential cases of illness which may be linked to the contaminated hamburgers which were sold on the west-coast.

Peanut butter recall linked to moisture from leaky roof and faulty sprinkler at the manufacturing plant
UPDATE 1/12/2009: Another peanut butter recall has been issued by King Nut Companies for large tubs of peanut butter distributed to hospitals, schools, nursing homes and other food service institutions, which may be contaminated with salmonella.
For the past two months, the food poisoning lawyers at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. have been investigating lawsuits for individuals injured by contaminated peanut butter. Today it was announced that a leaky roof and defective sprinkler system, combined with poor plant design and inadequate testing procedures, allowed salmonella bacteria to contaminate jars of Peter Pan peanut butter and Great Value peanut butter which sickened thousands of people.

Peanut butter compensation claims: Recall expanded
UPDATE 1/12/2009: Another peanut butter recall has been issued by King Nut Companies for large tubs of peanut butter distributed to hospitals, schools, nursing homes and other food service institutions, which may be contaminated with salmonella.
The recent nationwide recall of Peter Pan peanut butter and Great Value peanut butter has been extended to additional jars and ice cream toppings which could have been made as early as October 2004.
