Digitek Overdose Lawsuits: Double strength tablets increased risk of digitalis toxicity

Darvon and Darvocet Lawsuit filed against FDA by Public Cititzen

The consumer watchdog group, Public Citizen, has filed a Darvon / Darvocet lawsuit against the FDA as a result of their failure to act on a petition filed in 2006, which called for the painkiller to be removed from the market. The petition claims that Darvon, Darvocet and other generic painkillers containing propoxyphene have been linked to thousands of deaths, are highly addictive and are no more effective than safer alternatives. Digitek lawsuits have been filed and more cases are coming

Less than two months after a Digitek recall was issued due to manufacturing problems that allowed double strength tablets to be commercially released, at least three lawsuits have been filed. A number of additional cases are expected to be filed in the coming weeks, as hundreds of potential cases are currently being investigated throughout the country by individuals who are trying to determine if they may be entitled to compensation through a Digitek lawsuit.

Scope of potential Chantix lawsuit investigations expanded

Following a report released last month by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, which outlined a number of different problems associated with Chantix, the lawyers at Saiontz, Kirk & Miles, P.A. are expanding the scope of potential cases they are reviewing for users of the anti-smoking medication. Ethex Morphine Recall due to risk of Morphine Overdose

A nationwide Ethex morphine recall was issued yesterdat for 60 mg extended release morphine sulfate tablets. It was discovered that certain pills sold may contain up to double the appropriate medication and be twice as thick as normal. Sentara Hospitals’ negligence allows patients to receive recalled Kugel Mesh Hernia Patches

A Virginia hospital system admitted last week that they implanted hernia mesh patches in at least seven patients, months after the products had been recalled by the manufacturer. A Kugel Mesh Hernia Patch recall had been issued for the products since they could cause severe pain and potentially fatal complications after surgery. Although Sentarra Health Systems was notified of the recall, they failed to remove the patches from their inventory, which will likely result in a number of medical malpractice lawsuits against the hospitals.

New research suggests that use of Fosamax may increase the risk of a rare type of low-energy femur fracture. Prolonged use of the osteoporosis drug may overly suppress bone metabolism, impacting the ability of the bone to repair microdamage to the femur.

Tomato Salmonella Food Poisoning Lawsuits: Widespread outbreak linked to raw red tomatoes

The FDA and CDC have linked a recent outbreak of food poisoning to raw red tomatoes contaminated with Salmonella Saintpaul. At least 57 people in Texas and New Mexico have been sickened after eating contaminated tomatoes. Another 30 reports of illness in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas and Utah are also being investigated by health officials to determine if they are linked to tomatoes. Lead poisoning linked to adult crime

New research suggests that childhood exposure to lead paint can cause irreversible brain damage and a propensity to commit crimes in adulthood. Lead poisoning is often caused by young children eating flaking paint chips in poorly maintained rental properties in urban areas with older homes. Researchers indicate that the relationship between the lead exposure and crime is so strong, that it may be part of the reason that higher levels of crime are found in inner-city areas.
