Risk of Viagra vision loss, hearing loss and other side effects not disclosed in recent ad
Pfizer, the makers of Viagra, recently received a harsh warning letter from the FDA about an internet ad which promoted their impotence drug without disclosing “any risk information.” The video appeared on CNN.com hailing the benefits of the medication without any mention of the risk of Viagra vision loss, hearing side effects, or any of the other safety information required by the FDA advertising rules.

Bear Stearns lawsuits filed due to fraudulent misrepresentations
Following the financial collapse of one of the largest investment banks, many investors are pursuing Bear Stearns lawsuits to recover losses caused by fraudulent misrepresentations made by the company. As Bear Stearns stock prices fell amid concerns that the bank may fail, false statements were made to mislead investors about the financial strength of the company. As a result, millions of dollars were lost by investors who purchased shares of Bear Stearns stock between March 12 and March 14.

Contaminated heparin problems caused by fraud
The FDA’s top official told a Senate subcommittee today that he believes the recent heparin problems which have injured and killed people throughout the United States, was likely done for economic reasons. A fake ingredient found in contaminated heparin is a cheaper, yet chemically similar to the active ingredient in the blood thinner. Somewhere along the production chain, a decision was made to place profits before the safety and health of thousands of people, and the suppliers and manufacturers now face heparin lawsuits which are being filed on behalf of individuals who have suffered severe allergic reactions or hypotension.
Puffed Wheat and Puffed Rice Cereal Recall due to Salmonella Food Poisoning
A recent Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat cereal recall, which was issued last week after it was discovered that Salmonella was in the products, has already caused at least 23 serious illnesses in 14 states. The FDA confirmed that the cases of Salmonella food poisoning were caused by salmonellosis, which is the same strain of the bacteria found in the recalled cereal made by Malt-O-Meal. Hundreds more may have been sickened without reporting it to health officials. The food poisoning lawyers at Saiontz, Kirk & Miles, P.A. are reviewing potential cereal recall lawsuits for individuals who required medical treatment for an illness which began after eating Puffed Rice or Puffed Wheat cereal.

Schwab Yield Plus Select losses may be recoverable
The Schwab YieldPlus Select Fund (SWYSX), which is one of the largest bond funds for Charles Schwab Corp., has lost 80% of its assets over the past year. Many investors placed their money in this fund as an alternative to a money market, and they have suffered substantial losses as a result of the funds inappropriate concentration on mortgage-backed securites. Some of these investment losses may be recoverable through a Schwab YieldPlus Select lawsuit.
Glaxo failed to provide FDA with complete data on Avandia side effects
GlaxoSmithKline Plc, maker of the diabetes drug Avandia, received a harsh warning letter from the FDA this week as a result of their failure to report safety results as required by federal regulations. Over the past year, a lot of attention has been focused on Avandia side effects, since studies suggested that the medication increases the risk of heart attacks. The FDA letter states that Glaxo neglected to provide them with certain data between 2001 and 2007.

Yamaha Rhino Accidents occur due to known defects
In recent years, the number of ATV accidents and injuries have been on the rise. However, instead of working to make safer products, some ATV manufacturers continue to sell vehicles that they know are unreasonably dangers and contain design defects that could increase the risk of injury. The number of Yamaha Rhino accidents associated with the vehicle’s inherent instability, is one example of a company’s failure to ensure that their product is as safe as possible.

Singulair suicide side effects to be reviewed by FDA
The FDA has released a statement regarding their investigation into a possible association between Singulair and suicides, suicidal thinking and unusual behavior changes. The drug regulators have requested additional information from Merck & Co., the manufacturer of the popular asthma medication, and they expect to complete their evaluation of the Singulair suicide side effects within the next nine months.

Zyprexa settlement reached for state claim
Three weeks into a trial in Alaska over the state’s claim to recoup medical bills paid on behalf of individuals who developed diabetes while taking Zyprexa, the lawsuit has settled. Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Zyprexa has agreed to pay $15 million to the state instead of letting the jury decide the case. However, they may need to pay billions of dollars more to settle Zyprexa lawsuits brought by bigger states, and they still may face additional lawsuits from individuals who developed diabetes as a side effect of Zyprexa.

Yamaha Rhino Side-by-Side Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) announced a Yamaha Rhino recall due to a risk of brake failure. The side-by-side four wheel ATV has been the subject of nationwide lawsuits as a result of inherent design defects which make the Rhino an unsafe vehicle, with a propensity to roll over. Despite thousands of injuries which have been caused by the Yamaha Rhino, this recall still does not address the instability problems.
