Work Injury Death Rates Higher for Hispanics
According to a report released earlier this month by the CDC, Hispanic workers are more likely to suffer a work injury death than other racial groups in the United States. The health officials indicate that reducing the number of on-the-job deaths among Hispanics will require safer work environments, better safety information and the development of additional materials that are effective for workers who speak different languages and have different levels of literacy.
DeWALT Table Saw Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a nationwide Dewalt Table Saw recall due to a defect which could lead to severe lacerations. The recall applies to the 10 inch DeWalt Jobsite Table Saw model number DW744. Consumers have been told to immediately stop using the recalled saws, and individuals who were injured as a result of this defect may be entitled to compensation through a DeWalt Table Saw Lawsuit.
Work injury deaths in U.S. occur mainly in auto accidents on highways
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), work related deaths in the United States increased by nearly 10% in 2005. For the fourteenth year in a row, the most likely cause for a work injury fatality was a highway accident.

Maryland courts uphold co-employee exclusion
This week the Maryland Court of Appeals issued an opinion which will allow insurance companies to continue reducing the amount of coverage they provide for accidents in which a co-worker of their insured is injured. As a result of this co-employee exclusion, Maryland auto accident victims are often denied coverage they should be entitled to and Maryland drivers are exposed to liability when they thought they had protected themselves.
