The product liability lawyers at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. are now reviewing potential ObTape Vaginal Sling lawsuits against Mentor Corporation on behalf of women who have suffered complications related to the bladder sling used to treat female stress urinary incontinence.

>>FREE CONSULTATION: Review a case with our ObTape Lawyers

Between 2003 and 2006, approximately 35,000 women who underwent a transobturator surgical procedure to treat stress incontinence and bladder leakage received a defectively designed ObTape vaginal sling manufactured by Mentor. Estimates have suggested that 17% to 18% of these women could suffer severe and debilitating complications, including infection, vaginal extrusions and urinary tract erosions.

Potential problems could occur months or even years after the sling is implanted. As a result, women have experienced severe pain, permanent disability and surgical procedures to remove the defective bladder sling.

Our ObTape surgery sling lawyers are evaluating potential cases throughout the United States for women who have experienced problems, including:

  • Vaginal or Pelvic Pain
  • Chronic Infections
  • Severe Pain in the Back, Hips and Legs
  • Cellulitis
  • Vaginal Extrusions
  • Urinary Tract Erosions

Although many women may not be aware of the exact type of sling used during their bladder surgery, our attorneys are investigating cases where problems have developed after surgery that are consistent with the complications associated with the Mentor ObTape Sling. Medical records can be obtained and reviewed to determine if problems experienced may be related to the defective sling.

There are no fees or expenses unless a recovery is obtained. To have your case reviewed by an ObTape lawyer, request a free consultation and claim evaluation.

I have once again had surgery to remove mentor ob tape from my body. This time I had a partial vulvectomy and the surgery was major. This took place beginning July17th with a large double walled abcess having to drained and I was immediately placed in the hospital. On Monday, July 20th I underwent the surgery by a specialist and removed another piece of mentor tape. This is all documented and in my records. I pray this will be the end of a long, long haul of being ill, surgeries, lost time and not to mention the emotional and physical toll on myself and my husband.

I underwent surgery in april, 2007 to tack up my bladder. I came home from the hospital with MRSA. My incision site kept getting redder and more sore. I thought all the redness and soreness was just me. My husband told me from day one that he thought something was just not right. I called to make an appointment with the Dr. that done surgery but she was out of town so I asked to be seen by another Dr. and was given an appointment. During that appointment, I told the Dr. that I was afraid that it could be MRSA because there had been so many cases of it lately. He immediately said it was not MRSA but he never examined me, never touched me, he only looked at the site and acted as if it was nothing to be worried about. Over the following weekend, I was taken to the local ER with a high temperature and worstening redness and soreness and in much pain and discomfort. The ER treated my infection by subscribing antibiotics and telling me to follow up with the operating DR. at the first of the week. When I went to see the operating Dr. at the beginning of the week, she confirmed that it was staph infection and left the room with me still laying there. Shortly the door opened and in came 2 nurses to look at me. When I asked them why they were in there they said to see the infection because they had never seen MRSA before and that the Dr. had told them they could come look at me. They then leave the room and shortly after the Dr. returned and proceeded to cut me open at the infected site without anything to numb my pain. When I realized what she was doing to me I raised my head and looked down and all I could see was blood. I started feeling sick and then she told me I would have to watch her pack the incision so I would know how to do it.. It was necessary that it be packed 2 times daily for it to heal from the inside out. Of course I could not do this myself so my husband took on this responsibility. Thank you Lord for giving him to me. In the years since this procedure, I have experienced major hormonal symptoms along with other physical and mental issues that made my life a living hell.
Then I began to see an OB/Gyn early in 2012 and he made the decision that I needed a surgery due to major swelling and soreness. Sometimes the pain and discomfort was so bad that I could hardly walk at times. I underwent this surgery in late april 2012. During the surgery the Dr. found a substantial pocket of infection surrounding the suture that the other Dr. had used in the original surgery. Now that he has removed all this foul matter from my body hopefully I am on the road to a better life!
I have the suture that was at the center of it all but don’t know if it is one of those that has caused so many others medical problems.
