The lawyers at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. represent individuals throughout the United States who have been diagnosed with bladder cancer from Actos, a popular type 2 diabetes drug that the FDA has linked to a potential risk of bladder tumors when used for long periods of time. As part of our review and evaluation of these cases, we are now also considering whether individuals may be entitled to compensation through an Actos lawsuit if they were diagnosed with prostate cancer.

At this time, there have been no FDA warnings about the risk of prostate cancer from Actos. However, our law firm has a good faith basis to suspect that there may be an association between Actos and prostate cancer, which the manufacturer may have failed to adequately research or warn about.

Prostate cancer is a form of cancer that develops in the prostate gland of the male reproductive system. While most cancer of the prostate is slow growing, in some cases it can be an aggressive cancer and cells may spread to other parts of the body.

While early prostate cancer usually causes no symptoms, it can lead to problems like:

  • Painful Urination
  • Blood in the Urine
  • Difficulty Urinating or Frequent Urination
  • Difficulty During Sexual Intercourse
  • Erectile Dysfunction

While the investigation is in its very early stages, our lawyers are evaluating whether there may be a basis for Actos prostate cancer lawsuits. Any cases being investigated for individuals diagnosed with prostate cancer are being reviewed “for investigation only” at this point, but there are never any fees or expenses unless our Actos lawyers are ultimately successful obtaining compensation.

UPDATE 5/29/2012: Potential cases for prostate cancer from Actos are still being reviewed for investigation purposes only.

My father took actos for over a year or more and had prostate cancer. He was not a surgical candidate so he had to opt for radioactive pellets being placed to radiate prostate. He recently had a kidney and bladder scan which showed multiple cysts and/or tumors that could possibly be cancer of the kidneys and bladder. A definative diagnosis has not been made yet but close followup is being suggested. Can he still file lawsuit if only has symptoms of bladder cancer or does it have to be documented diagnosis???

My husband died last year after the largest cancer tumor ever seen in any pathology history grew from his prostate , consumed his bladder and half of his liver , He had taken ACTOS for 12 years . The Tumor cut off his urine by closing the ureter , He died a horrible painful death and the autopsy showed the tumor as the cause of death . It was so large that the slides were sent to USC for evaluation and the only thing that makes any sense is that the ACTOS is the culprit .

My father died of a very aggressive pancreatic cancer after taking Actos for a little bit more than one year. This drug was suspended in the largest european markets, and it’s a shame the FDA is doing nothing.

Took the drug Actos I believe from approximately 2001 to 2010 !During that time, I developed prostate cancer, which had not run in our family! Had the seeds implanted at the Cleveland Clinic which lasted approximately 10 years. Then, I developed cancer in a lymph node in the groin area, which I’am still being treated at the Cleveland Clinic.

Am having radical prostatectomy Aug. 5, due to T1c tumor — 30% of core F (2.5% of total), Glisan score 6 (3+3). I think the cancer may have been caused by my long-term use of pioglitazone to control chronic episodic hypoglycemia (Somogyi episides).

  • Nathan says:

Had prostate cancer while taking Actos. Had biopsy which confirmed and then surgery to remove prostate which found out after removal that cancer was of the aggressive type. Still check PSA levels every 3 months. Still have urine leakage and must wear a pad.
