Risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) from Yaz, Yasmin

Yaz lawsuits, Yasmin lawsuits, Beyaz lawsuit and Ocella lawsuits were previously reviewed for women throughout the United States who have suffered serious and potentially life-threatening blood clots, which may form in the deep veins of the legs, pelvis or arms.

Side effects of the popular birth control pills, which contain the new progestin droSspirenone, have been linked to an increased risk of health problems like deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, heart attack, stroke or sudden death from Yaz and Yasmin side effects.

Deep vein thrombosis, or DVT, can result in blood cells blocking the vein entirely or breaking off and flossing to a vital artery.  This posses a serious danger since the blockage of a vital artery can restrict blood flow to the heart, lungs or brain.

Financial compensation may be available through a Yaz or Yasmin deep vein thrombosis lawsuit for individuals who have suffered a blood clot injury, as the manufacturers failed to fully research the drugs or adequately warn about the increased risk when compared to some other oral birth control pills.

YASMIN AND YAZ DVT BLOOD CLOT PROBLEMS

Yaz and Yasmin, as well as generic Ocella, use a combination of hormones to prevent pregnancy.  The estrogen component is ethinyl estradiol, which is used in many oral contraceptives.  However the progestin, which is drospirenone, is unique to Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella and has been cited as the cause of the increased blood clot risk.

Drospirenone, or drsp, impacts the body’s normal mechanism of regulating a balance between salt and water.  This results in elevated potassium levels, known as hyperkalemia, which is known to cause potentially life-threatening health problems.

A DVT or deep vein thrombosis is a type of blood clot that usually occurs in the legs or deep veins of the pelvis.  While it is possible to have a DVT with minimal symptoms, they usuall cause extreme pain and swelling in the affected limb.  If the deep vein thrombosis dislodges, it could travel to other parts of the body and cause a pulmonary emolism, heart attack or stroke.

According to an August 2009 study published in the British Medical Journal, birth control pills containing drospirenone, such as Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella, carry a 6.3 times increased risk of a first deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.  When compared to women taking some other types of oral birth control, the increased risk was nearly four times more among users of Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella.

Yasmin and Yaz DVT is considered a medical emergency which requires immediate medical treatment.
