MulitHance MRI Contrast Lawyers Are No Longer Reviewing New Cases
Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis / Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermopathy (NSF/NFD) has been linked to MultiHance side effects.
MultiHance (gadobenate dimeglumine) is a contrast agent which may be used during MRA or MRI diagnostic tests to allow the physician to identify blood vessels on the films.
The gadolinium-based injection is one of five MRI contrast injections which have been linked to the development of Nephronic Systemic Fibrosis/Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermopathy (NSF/NFD) in patients with impaired kidney function.
This rare disease is a painful and debilitating condition which results in areas of thick skin which impair mobility, and could involve fibrosis of other organs. It is severely disabiling, restricting movement of the arms and legs. In some cases NSF/NFD is fatal.
MultiHance lawsuits were previously investigated and reviewed for individuals with renal disease who received the MultiHhance contrast agent during an MRI or MRA and then developed Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis. New cases are no longer being pursued. This page is for informational purposes about claims previously investigated by our law firm.
MULTIHANCE INJECTION DANGERS
MultiHance is one of two gadolinium contrast dyes manufactured by Bracco Diagnostic, Inc. It is the most recent contrast agent to be approved by the FDA in November 2004. The other contrast which is also associated with NSF/NFD is ProHance.
Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, formerly known as Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermopathy, has been directly associated with MRI contrast injections, such as MultiHance. In 2006, the FDA issued a public health advisory warning those with kidney problems to avoid the MRI contrast and a “black box” warning was added in 2007.
Those who suffer from the systemic disorder develop excessive scar tissue on the skin and other internal organs, which often leads to the need for a wheel chair within weeks of the disease onset. There is no known treatment which is effective, and the progressive disease is often fatal.
