For nearly two years, the product liability lawyers at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. have been reviewing potential Stryker hip replacement lawsuits for individuals who have experienced squeaking and other problems caused by the Stryker Trident hip implant.

>>PRIOR POST (2/23/2008): Timeline of Stryker Trident Hip Problems

Stryker Trident hip replacements feature ceramic-on-ceramic parts, which are promoted as more durable and longer lasting than conventional metal-on-plastic or metal-on-metal hip replacements. However, a large number of patients who were given these implants have developed loud squeaking, popping, loosening of the components and other problems that they were never warned about.

The following YouTube videos posted by individuals who are plagued by squeaky hips caused by the defective Stryker Trident ceramic-on-ceramic hip replacement illustrate the problem:

In addition to the annoyance, embarrasment and inconvenience, these Stryker squeaky hip problems can cause an individual to suffer substantial injuries, potentially resulting in an inability to participate in activities they should otherwise be able to do, severe pain, loosening of hip replacement parts or the need for additional hip replacement surgery.

STRYKER SQUEAKY HIP LAWSUITS

The attorneys at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. are continuing to review potential claims for individuals who believe that they may be entitled to compensation through a Stryker squeaky hip lawsuit. To review a potential claim for yourself, a friend or family member, request a free consultation and claim evaluation.

I had hip replacement surgery a few years ago. Immediately after my hip was squeaking so loudly it sounded like nail on a chalkboard. I told my doctor and he said he called the company and they said no one else has had that happen before. I was also in constant pain. Recently I had another surgeon go in to try and find out why the pain was so bad and the hip replacement apparatus fell out into the surgeons hands. So much work on my hip has caused nerve damage and my dependence on pain medication has caused hardships at work.

I have had a squeeky hip for almost a year. I saw the ortho dr. last year says he has never heard of a hip squeeking, he did hear mine tried not to laugh. He asked me to wait one year later it is really loud I work at a Assisted Living Facility when I walk dow the hall with someone they look around for a squeeky walker. It has started to hurt but is not currently squeeking. I have a hip revision scheduled for April 12, 2011. Wish me luck

I was 40 when I had my first hip replaced in 2006. I was in so much pain, I jumped (figuratively) when the doctor finally said he would replace my hip. I was never told of the squeeking side effect even though, as I am reading, the side effect was known for more than two years. Last year, my hip began to squeek. I am a high school teacher and am tired of squeeking during class. (Try keeping 30 kids focused when you make noises with every step.) Although they don’t mean to be hurtful, my kids and wife laugh when we are walking. I am quite the party joke too. I am not onion skinned, but enough is enough.

I had my second hip replaced in 2008 and was warned right before surgery that he would put in the same hip as my left, but there was a known side effect of squeeking. I chose to put in a different hip. I wish I was warned the first time! What is going on with the lawsuit. I am considering joining.

26 Years working in the Special Procedure, Cardiac Cath Lab, OR, Radiology I am well aware how the Doctors have to rely on companies reports of their products. That is how they make an “informed decision’ in choosing the product to best help their patients. The FDA warnings should have been flagged by the companies of the oil left on the products, sqeeking noises, and more problems. I have just in the past 5 or so months developed squeeking, popping noises since 2006 but only I could hear them. I can no longer do the work I used to do because of arthritis in many areas I care for patients in their homes. Squeeking is one thing, but when my patients think I ate kilbasa and beans and passing gas in front of their faces this is embarrising. I as of yet do not have the noises constantly, just in possitions I am in carring for my patients. Some of the time walking upright and always when carrying laundry. Any one have a good end story of the noise stopping on its own or a story of someone inventing a way to lubercate the Stryker ceramic hip? Please share. This is America, with many years in, anyone working on a simple fix at Stryker? Seeing my Dr. tomorrow. Never discussed this even though a friend sent to me the warning letter from the FDA to Stryker only 3 weeks after my surgery in December 2005

Since my last post I discovered supplements ranging from molecular structures of 1500 all the way up to 2.4 million dalton wt. HA. I have been squeak free since June 2012.
I know know the FDA will not approve natural supplements even if one of them (LubriSyn) at the 2.4 million dalton wt. was approved by the FDA for horses.
A new problem has now occured. I have anterior tibial numbness. dorsal foot. to toes and then up to anterior Fem. area when sitting.
I would like to know if anyone else has experienced nerve impingment issues.

  • Lorraine says:

I am still squeak free. I have been taking a full range of molecular wts. of HA products. My system does seem to digest in my gut and reconstitue in my system. I use Fast HA, right up to hu, at 2.4 dalton wt.
If I miss two days of any of the products my squeaking and grinding returns with a vengance. I am happy to let anyone with any interrest contact me. “Big Brother” the FDA is not the solution. Western medicine, alternative medicine, bio-chemist all need to work together with independant overseers and not the goverment. The companies making the devices to help need to work with all modalities. I do not believe anyone can know everything, only do their best to help others.

Sad to hear you are no longer taking on new cases. I received a stryker Trident replacement 6 years ago. This year I had the other replaced. The ortho surgeon told me I would receive a different type of replacement this time because the trident had some rub / squeak issues.[ like the sound of a rub on a glass bottle] I’d say mine is a bit louder that that. Although it does not hurt, the sound is irritating to me. I’m fairly active swimming, skiing, walking, motorcycling etc. It causes me to hesitate when I move because I’m not sure of my hip and how it will function. My I spoke to the surgeon about this, he response was, “I can fix that for you”. “How”, I asked” We’ll just open you up”. Easy for him to say! I’ll live with the squeak I guess. By the way, why would a Stryker Rep. be in surgery when I had my hip replaced this year?
