Hernia Revision Surgery Due to Atrium C-Qur Mesh?

Atrium C-Qur Hernia Mesh Problems

Atrium first introduced C-Qur Mesh (pronounced Atrium “Secure”) in 2005, through the controversial 510(k) FDA approval system, which allowed the medical device to be introduced without rigorous pre-market research and studies.

Despite signs of potential problems with the Atrium C-Qur mesh, the manufacturer continued to introduce a variety of similar products for use in hernia repair, chest wall reconstruction and treatment of traumatic or surgical wounds, including:

  • Atrium C-Qur Mesh
  • Atrium C-Qur Mosaic
  • Atrium C-Qur TacShield
  • Atrium C-Qur V-Patch
  • Atrium C-Qur Centrifx
  • Atrium C-Qur FX Mesh (formerly C-Qur Lite)

All of these products are constructed out of an Atrium polypropylene mesh, with an outer coating of gel made from omega 3 fatty acids, called the O3FA layer.

A large number of individuals throughout the United States have reported suffering severe and debilitating problems following hernia surgery where these products were used.

Rather than issuing an Atrium C-Qur patch recall, the manufacturer instead elected to quietly remove certain devices from the market and never adequately warned consumers that they may be at risk..

It appears that Atrium knew or should have known about the potential risk of infections, allergic reactions, bowel damage and other internal injuries. However, information was withheld from patients and the medical community.

The Atrium C-Qur mesh failure rates appear to be unreasonably high, potentially resulting in the need for revision surgery and leaving patients with permanent and debilitating health problems.

If the hernia mesh adheres to the bowel, it could lead to the bowel becoming twisted or perforated, causing gastric ulcers or other intestinal problems, including infections like sepsis and gangrene. Some reports also suggest that patients may suffer allergic reactions to the C-Qur O3FA layer.

Atrium C-Qur Hernia Mesh Lawsuit Allegations

  • Failed to Promptly Issue an Atrium C-Qur Recall After Problems Were Discovered;
