DENTURE CREAM ZINC SIDE EFFECTS
Denture creams that contain zinc, such as Fixodent and Super PoliGrip, could cause the user to develop high levels of zinc in the blood. Although the body requires small amounts, excessive consumption can lead to hyperzincemia, or zinc poisoning.
Excess zinc in the body also causes a depletion of copper, known as hypocupremia, which can cause neurological damage, neuropathy and other complications.
The recommended daily allowance of zinc is only 11 mg/day for men and 8 mg/day for women, and the highest amount that can be safely tolerated is 40 mg/day.
