Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. is now investigating potential claims for injuries suffered as a result the recalled Davol / Bard Composix Kugel Hernia Mesh Patches.  Lawsuits are being reviewed nationwide.

The Kugel Hernia Mesh Patches are used to repair ventrical hernias, also known as incisional hernias.  The product is designed so that it can be folded during insertion and then spring open once in place to lay flat under the hernia.  As a result of a design defect, the memory recoil ring may break, causing bowel perforation, intestinal problems or death.

The Kugel Hernia Patch recall is classified by the FDA as a Class I recall, since it has a reasonable probability of causing serious adverse health consequences.

Andrew, I do not believe that the recalled hernia mesh was approved for use to repair inguinal hernias. However, you should check with your physician to determine the type of mesh used and the product number. You can then contact our office at (800) 522-0102 and we will be happy to speak with you and help you determine whether you would qualify for a hernia mesh recall lawsuit.

  • Steven Miles says:

I had the Bard Ventrulax size small mesh inserted for my second hernia operation on 2/10/06. Subsequently, I have another hernia just above the mesh and had to have a third surgery in Nov 07. I am having swelling, and pain in my abdomin, and I cannot sit or stand for long periods. My doctor told me to wait and see…he thinks it may be the plastic stitches used but this is ridiculous.

My hernia(s) were around my bellybutton and that is where the mesh was inserted. Wish I never had the mesh inserted.

I am not related to the Miles partner.

my boyfriend had a hernia surgery back in 2004 for a inguinal hernia in his groin area. here lately in the past 2 years he has had pain on and off around the incision and he says it feels like it is pulling and ripping. could this be due the the mesh recall? or do they even use the mesh from the recall in these surgeries?

I had the kugel patch to repair my hernia, 4 days after surgery, I was admitted with a perforated bowel. The mesh was replaced, after the second surgery, a fistula formed, the patch was taken out, at that point. I suffered from 6 surgeries in 8 months, uncontrolable infections and pain., I lost my career, my house. I was off for 18 months, constantly in hospitals. My family had to move back to PA., where i had to have Abdominal reconstructive surgery. Now I suffer from Neuralgia, due to the nerve damage.

I have almost similar problems. Ventralex mesh was used to repair my Hernia. Since then, I constantly have pain, headache, constipation, and bloating. I cannot sleep without pain medication, I cannot stand for long, neither can I sit for long hours – worse sitting on a hard surface. I am going to have the mesh removed next week.

If someone has a Kugel Hernia Patch today from a surgery back a week before the recall, are they now able to sue to have it repaired correctly now with a safe patch?
