The FDA reports that Daily Harvest became aware of at least 470 consumers who were sickened by the frozen French Lentil + Leek Crumbles products since April 2022, raising serious questions about why the recall was not announced until late June 2022.

It appears that concerns about profits were placed before the health and safety of consumers nationwide.

There are no fees or expenses unless a food poisoning recall payout is obtained for your family.

Which Daily Harvest products were recalled in 2022?

The Daily Harvest recall was first announced on June 23, 2022, impacting approximately 28,000 units of frozen French Lentil + Leek Crumbles sold in 12oz white pouch with the words “Daily Harvest” at the top, a large “CRUMBLES” immediately below the top and the words “French Lentil + Leek” in bold.

The recall includes all lot numbers of Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek sold from April 28 through June 17, 2022.

The recalled Daily Harvest frozen French Lentil + Leek Crumble products were sold online and through direct delivery, as well as through retail sales at the Daily Harvest store in Chicago, Illinois and a “pop-up” store in Los Angeles, California.

Why is Daily Harvest recalling French Lentil + Leek Crumbles?

The Daily Harvest recall was issued after receiving approximately 470 reports of illnesses and injuries from consumers who claim to have developed gastrointestinal injuries, liver function issues, liver damage, and gallbladder injuries resulting in the need for gallbladder removal surgery after consuming the company’s French Lentil + Leek Crumbles products.

As of June 27, 2022, Daily Harvest indicated that the source of the contamination causing illnesses and injuries to consumers was still unknown. In a French Lentil + Leek Crumbles recall update issued in late June 2022, the manufacturer said they are currently working with the FDA and the state Department of Agriculture as well as microbiologists, toxin and pathogen experts, allergists and third party laboratories to identify the root cause of contamination in French Lentil + Leek Crumbles products.

Daily Harvest announced its manufacturing facilities, product samples and the supply chain are currently being tested for a number of bacteria and pathogens including Listeria, E.Coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus Aureus (Staph), B.Cereus, Clostridium species, Mycotoxins, Aflatoxins as well as for major allergens including egg, soy, milk, and gluten.

Recalled Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek Crumbles Side Effects

To date, Daily Harvest and the federal and state agencies involved have not been able to identify the reason why consumers are experiencing side effects after eating French Lentil + Leek Crumbles. However, the FDA reports consumer side effects have ranged from gastrointestinal pain to gallbladder removal surgery.

Illness after consuming the Daily Harvest products have been heavily shared through social media, with one Reddit thread containing hundreds of proclaimed consumers posting side effects of debilitating stomach pains, elevated liver enzymes, gallbladder dysfunction and other severe pains that have resulted in hospital and emergency rooms visits after eating French Lentil + Leek Crumbles.

While the root cause of the contamination in Daily Harvest products are unknown at this time, hundreds of consumers who have become ill may be eligible to pursue a food poisoning lawsuit against Daily Harvest over failing to ensure the French Lentil + Leek Crumbles were safe for human consumption.

Hi there, I’m a food writer who received Daily Harvest Crumbles as part of a media kit. I made chili with the crumbles, and after eating it for lunch April 28 – April 30, I developed intestinal symptoms that required me to visit the ED. I had highly elevated liver levels, underwent an MRI and a CT scan, but no cause was apparent. I would like to pursue litigation.

I was hospitalized after eating daily harvest French lentil and leek crumbles . I didn’t think of associating my illness to food . I have been getting Daily Harvest for over a year – but this was a new product I received my shipment in May. After days of illness I was hospitalized and they kept me due to elevated liver enzymes which is what was the main concern of my hospital visit . I stayed two nights so they could run tests I.e X-ray , ultrasound , CT scan, blood work. I was released with no diagnoses as they could not determine what was causing my illness and elevating my liver enzymes. My stay was 5/28-5/30. This was before a statement was released – after I saw the information and how my exact symptoms matched other reports,, I knew this was the reason . I can provide more details about my symptoms and Illness , I have my urgent care and hospital documents as well. I reached out to the company and I got an initial response that they would forward my info to the correct party . I inquired about compensation for my hospital bills and missed work. After not hearing back from anyone for two weeks I realized I need to take matters into my own hands with a lawyer and find out what I can do .
Look forward to hearing from someone .
    Thank you
    Stacy Lucas
