Dilantin Stevens-Johnnson Syndrome (SJS) Lawyers
The product liability lawyers at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. are continuing to review potential claims for individuals who may be entitled to compensation through a Dilantin lawsuit for Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) or other serious skin reactions caused by side effects of the epilepsy medication.
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) is a painful drug reaction that causes the skin to burn from the inside out. It results in burns, blisters and severe rashes that may cause the skin to separate from the body. The Dilantin skin problems typically start with blisters in the mouth, on the lips or in the genital region. When the lesions cover more than 30% of the body, the skin reaction is typically referred to as Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN).
Individuals who suffer Stevens-Johnson Syndrome from Dilantin or another drug experience tremendous pain, and the condition can be fatal in some cases.
Although the risk of SJS from Dilantin has been known for some time, the drug makers have failed to adequately warn about the potential risk. Dilantin lawsuits allege that the medication should carry a black box warning to make sure that consumers and the medical community are adequately informed about the potential side effects of Dilantin.

My brother was prescribed Dilantin for epilepsy several years ago. He was later diagnosed with Cerebellar Atrophy. He went on disability. He has two letters from former doctors stating that they prescribed Dilantin for him. One letter said to take Dilantin twice daily. He has many system issues: trouble walking, balance, chronic kidney disease, urinary incontinence, dementia, brain damage, fine motor problems, vision problems, etc.
