QUESTION

How Do I Pursue a Valsartan Recall Class Action Claim?

3 ADD YOUR COMMENTS

ANSWER

In mid-2018, a number of different generic drug makers issued valsartan recalls, indicating that pills distributed in recent years may have contained impurities from the manufacturing process that increase the risk of cancer. As a result, a number of valsartan class action lawsuits and individual cancer claims are being pursued by individuals nationwide.

While class actions over the valsartan recall seek damages for the price paid for the pills, future medical monitoring and other damages, individuals diagnosed with cancer due to side effects of valsartan NDMA contamination may be entitled to substantially greater financial compensation.

Class Action vs. Injury Lawsuit for valsartan

Given the large number of claims likely to be pursued by individual throughout the United States diagnosed with cancer from Valsartan, it is common for individual injury claims to be confused with class action lawsuits. However, there are important differences.

The class action lawsuits over valsartan filed to date have dealt with compensating those who have not been injured or diagnosed with cancer, since they paid for contaminated drugs and may require medical monitoring in the future.

However, valsartan cancer lawsuits will be pursued as individual actions, since the impact of each diagnosis will be different. While the cases may eventually be consolidated or coordinated during discovery and litigation, each claim will remain a separate lawsuit and the individual circumstances will be considered as part of any valsartan settlement.

I have been taking Losartan 100 mg. since 2022 prescribed by the cardiologist at Jefferson Hospital’s Cardiology unit. The specialist informed me I will need to take this medication for the rest of my life. I am 76 years old. I was hospitalized in 2022 for high blood pressure. I am not sure if this medication is causing the start of kidney problems and other side effects for me. Since taking this medication I have experienced frequent trips to the bathroom to release urine from my bladder and I do have bladder leaks requiring me to wear extra absorbent underwear for incontinence.

I started taking Lorsatan in 2023. I feel nothing like I did before taking it. It seems like my health is declining more. Now after a year of taking it. Got issue with liver, which I did not have before. Mention symptom to doctor. Oh your body have to get use to it. Took myself off it. All body pain, headache nausea and swelling gone. I feel like my old self again. I was put on a different blood pressure medicine.
