Peanut butter compensation claims: Recall expanded
UPDATE 1/12/2009: Another peanut butter recall has been issued by King Nut Companies for large tubs of peanut butter distributed to hospitals, schools, nursing homes and other food service institutions, which may be contaminated with salmonella.
The recent nationwide recall of Peter Pan peanut butter and Great Value peanut butter has been extended to additional jars and ice cream toppings which could have been made as early as October 2004. Peanut butter compensation claims are being pursued for individuals who have suffered food poisoning and received medical treatment.

The extended recall was announced by the FDA on Friday as part of their continued investigation into the outbreak of salmonella food poisoning which has been tied to peanut butter made at a plant in Georgia. Thousands of jars have been recalled, including all jars of Peter Pan peanut butter, certain jars of Wal-mart store brand peanut butter and peanut butter ice cream toppings. All of the jars involved in the recall have a product code beginning with “2111” printed on the label.
