In recent years, the number of ATV accidents and injuries have been on the rise. However, instead of working to make safer products, some ATV manufacturers continue to sell vehicles that they know are unreasonably dangers and contain design defects that could increase the risk of injury. The number of Yamaha Rhino accidents associated with the vehicle’s inherent instability, is one example of a company’s failure to ensure that their product is as safe as possible.

Yamaha Rhino Accidents

Yamaha Rhino Side-by-Side

The Yamaha Rhino is four-wheel side-by-side all-terrain vehicle which has been associated with thousands of accidents and serious injuries throughout the country. The vehicle was designed with a high center of gravity on a narrow wheel base, which increases the risk that it could overturn, even when operated at a slow speed on flat surfaces. A large number of debilitating crush injuries and fractures have resulted from Yamaha Rhino crashes, when the weight of the vehicle rolled over on the legs or arms of occupants.

Yamaha has acknowledged the problems surrounding Rhino accidents, yet they continue to sell the vehicles without any major redesign to address the instability. Last summer, they did agree to add after-market doors and additional passenger side hand-holds to reduce the risk of a severe injury in a Yamaha Rhino accident. However, they have not taken any steps to reduce the risk that it could roll over under normal operating conditions.

All ATVs carry a certain level of risk, which is accepted by the driver and occupants when they decide to use the vehicle. However, there is an expectation that the best possible design will be used to reduce the risk of injury, and that any problems known by the manufacturer, which could increase the risk of an accident, will be addressed.

YAMAHA RHINO ACCIDENT LAWSUITS

The personal injury lawyers at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. are reviewing potential Yamaha Rhino accident lawsuits on behalf of individuals who have been injured as a result of a roll-over crash. Yamaha has negligently designed their vehicle, failed to take steps to address known stability issues and has not provided adequate warnings to riders about the risk of a Rhino crash.

I took it for a test ride in back of the yamaha store, easy riding. I bought on the safety of the vehical. The first time I took it out I was riding on the beach, my wife and I were having a great time untill I hit a tufted off grass as I was turning around. It pulled the wheel to the right and sh_t….The whole whieghtof the Rhino. was on my bad leg ! ! I think yamaha should extend the travel out about4-6in this should do it.
