Since the FDA approved NuvaRing birth control as a once-monthly vaginal contraceptive ring in October 2001, Organon USA has continued to provide inadequate and insufficient warnings about the risk of potentially life-threatening blood clots that may result in heart attacks, strokes, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis or death. The NuvaRing Lawyers at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. were previously reviewing potential failure to warn lawsuits for women who have experienced problems caused by the medication.

>>Review a Potential NuvaRing Lawsuit

NuvaRing is a birth control ring that only has to be inserted once-a-month and releases low levels of estrogen to prevent pregnancy. However, it contains ethinyl estradol and etonogestrel, which is a third generation progestin that has been found to increase the risk of potentially life-threatening blood clots.

Otherwise health young women and the doctors who prescribe this medication deserve complete, fair and accurate warnings about the risk of NuvaRing problems.

Side effects of NuvaRing have been linked to increased risk of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, heart attacks, strokes and blood clot-related death, even when compared to other available methods of birth control.

The manufacturers of NuvaRing continue to provide inadequate warnings about this danger that prevent users and their doctors from making an informed decision about whether the benefits provided by the birth control ring out weigh the risk of potentially life-threatening side effects.

While the current warning label does mention a potential for blood clots or venous thrombosis, our NuvaRing lawyers argue that the warning appears insufficient and inadequate. These NuvaRing side effects should be featured more prominently on the warning label in a “black box” or bolded warning given the risk of disabling and fatal outcomes.

I suffered a Major Stroke shortly after using Nuva ring. I’m only 35 years of age. No one ever warned me of the possible dangerous side effects of using this birth control.

I share your pain, I had an 18 inch clot in my left leg and was in ICU for 8 days. My leg and life will never be the same and had I known in the slightest bit that was a side effect, I’d never taken it………..

I got a pulmonary embolism in my left lung @ age 21 from the Nuvaring. Though I tested negative for any kind of blood/hormonal disorders, to this day I still cannot take anything – birth control or otherwise – that contains hormones. Had I known Nuvaring would have done this, I would never have put it in my body!
