Side effects of Testim and other testosterone treatments may increase the risk of serious and potentially life-threatening injuries, including:

  • Heart Attack
  • Stroke
  • Pulmonary Embolism, Deep Vein Thrombosis and Other Blood Clots
  • Sudden Death

As a result of the manufacturer’s failure to adequately warn about these potential risks, financial compensation may be available for individuals who have suffered a Testim injury. All cases are reviewed by our lawyers on a contingency fee basis, which means that there are no fees or expenses unless a recovery is obtained. Request a free case evaluation.

Testim Gel Side Effects

Testim is a prescription testosterone gel introduced by Auxilium in 2002, which is applied to the shoulders daily.

Auxillium and it’s subsidiaries have been marketing testosterone replacement therapy drugs for years, after acquiring the companies that developed Testopel testosterone pellets, which were first introduced in 1972.

Although AndroGel is currently the leading testosterone gel product, Testim sales generate more than $200 million in sales per year and Auxillium is a large part of the $2 billion per year testosterone therapy market. Aggressive marketing for the drugs has caused sales to increase five-fold between 2000 and 2011.

Once considered a “niche” treatment for individuals suffering from hormonal deficiencies caused by medical problems like endocrine tumors, hypogonadism or disruptive effects of chemotherapy, Testim and other testosterone drugs are now widely used among many men who have no medical need for testosterone replacement.

While Auxillium and other manufacturers have promoted testosterone supplements for treatment of general symptoms of “Low T”, such as weight gain, decreased sex drive and drops in energy, Testim gel side effects may increase the risk of serious injuries that have not been adequately disclosed to consumers or the medical community.

Recent studies have suggested that Testim and other testosterone treatments may cause certain men to face an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes and wrongful death. Although it appears that information has been known about the potential heart risks of Testim testosterone for years, the drug maker has failed to provide adequate warnings or conduct sufficient clinical trials to evaluate the potential long-term risks.

In addition, testosterone gel like Testim may pose a potential risk of serious injury for children and women who come into contact with the medication that is applied to men. Warnings were added to Testim in 2009, indicating that secondary exposure may cause children to suffer a variety of problems, including early puberty, unexpected breast development, genital changes and increased aggression.

Testim Gel Class Action Lawyers

It appears that the makers of Testim placed the desire for profits ahead of patient safety by failing to investigate reports of heart problems or warn about the risks associated with use of the testosterone gel.

The testosterone injury lawyers at Saiontz & Kirk, P.A. are reviewing potential Testim class action lawsuits and individual claims for problems caused by side effects of the testosterone gel.

Free consultations and claim evaluations are provided for individuals throughout the United States to help determine if financial compensation may be available as a result of a Testim injury. There are never any attorney fees or expenses associated with pursuing a claim unless a recovery is obtained.
